I currently am certified in Elementary Education (K-9) and am Highly Qualified in Math and Science for grades 5-8. I have my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as my Masters in School Counseling.
I am a member of the Kansas School Counselor Association (KSCA), the Kansas Counseling Association (KCA), and the America School Counselor Association (ASCA).
This is my 20th year in education!!!!!
I started out teaching 5th and 6th grade math and science at Prince of Peace Catholic School in Olathe, KS for 3 years. I then took a position teaching math to 7th and 8th graders at Indian Hills Middle School in the Shawnee Mission School District for 2 years. My husband, Jeremy, accepted a principal position in Southeast Kansas, so we moved to Moran and I began teaching middle school math at Iola Middle School for 5 years. We moved to Solomon, KS in 2013 for my husband to begin his district leadership position. I began teaching 6th grade math and reading at South Middle School in Salina, KS for 2 years. Then, together, we worked for the Flinthills School District. They needed a school counselor at the time, and since I was always interested in pursuing a degree in psychology or counseling, I decided to take on the challenge. I was the Dean of Students/Counselor at Flinthills for 5 years. I then joined the Augusta family in 2020! I was a counselor at Augusta Middle School for one year and was then moved to the elementary position last year. I spent half of my time at Robinson Elementary and the other half at Ewalt Elementary! I absolutely fell in love with being an elementary counselor!!!! I’m starting my 3rd year in Augusta, 20th in education, and I will be full time at Ewalt Elementary this year!
I have been happily married to my husband, Jeremy, since 2005. We have 2 boys. Landon is a sophomore at Circle High School and Keenan is a 7th grader at Circle Middle School. They are both heavily involved in sports so I spend a significant amount of time either transporting kids to practice or watching games. They play football, baseball, and basketball year round!
I have a fur baby as well! Nelson is a 5-year-old Goldendoodle! He was in training to become a school therapy dog when Covid shut down our training facility for awhile. We have a few classes to go to get him fully certified. He has come to school with me a few times and is an instant celebrity! Nelson snuggles are the best!
When I’m not attending sporting events for my kiddos, I enjoy reading, watching KU basketball, taking bubble baths, and hanging out with friends and family. You will often spot me at various restaurants, outside playing cornhole/basketball PIG with my kids, or walking Nelson around. I love to go to movies, BBQ, and drink Dr. Pepper! Family is very important to me and I treasure evenings when we are all home at the dinner table together!
