I have taught at USD 402 for 15 years. In 2007 I began teaching in Augusta Public Schools at Ewalt Elementary as a 3rd grade teacher for seven years before deciding to accept the Gifted Facilitator position and pursue my Master’s in Special Education for 5 years in the Augusta district. In 2019 I had the opportunity to return to Ewalt as a 4th grade teacher.
Prior to working at Augusta Public Schools, I taught nine years in various Special Educaiton classroom setttings. My teaching career starting in 1992 at Oakdale Jr. High in Rogers, Arkansas as a self-contained Special Education Teacher. My husband and I relocated to Kansas in 1993. I accepted a position at Valley Center Jr. High as an Interrelated Teacher within an inclusion setting with the Sedgwick County Interlocal Cooperative. After purchasing property outside of Augusta, I accepted an Interrelated position with the Butler County Special Education Cooperative working as an Interrelated Teacher within a resource room at Rose Hill Middle School. I was offered a self-contained Special Education position with Bluestem Middle School and then transferred to Bluestem High School as the resource room teacher. After my two children arrived, I chose to stay home with them for six years.
My husband and I recently celebrated our 30th year of marriage. We have two children who were Ewalt Greyhounds and attended Augusta Public Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Our oldest recently graduated from college and our youngest is currently a college senior. We all enjoy our small hobbie farm with a herd of cattle, a horse, a dog & a cat.
I enjoy being outside usually working on our farm in some capacity when I’m not teaching. I also enjoy gardening, sewing, golfing and baking cookies. When time allows, I can be found traveling to Oklahoma and Arkansas visiting family.
